The first step I took in creating my animation was to create the large background, which would contain all of the scenes within my animation. Therefore I had to create a background which was four times the resolution which was required (1280 by 720). Allowing no quality to be decreased when scaled at the end or when the camera zooms further into the scene. I created this background in Photoshop and then imported it into After Effects where I manipulated it further.
Here is the process of creating this background:
I wanted to keep the background and the style fairly simple in correlation with the designs I had created for my character in the visual development stage of this module. Furthermore I think that the simple style contributes to the theme of silhouettes and shadow effectively.
I had to ensure that there were many different layers for each part of the world. Such as the mountains in the background the trees in the foreground and the world itself. This would then allow me to manipulate the layers in 3d space; using the 3d camera tool in after effects. This gave the animation a more professional look whilst creating some depth.
