I then finalised my character design in Photoshop, keeping the simple style and tonal theme of silhouettes and shadow. Whilst creating my character I used many different layers for all of the limbs of the body.
This allowed me to successfully use the puppet pin tool within after effects. I puppet pinned all of the joints on my character and was able to get fluid movement whilst not having to continuously draw every frame. I found this part of the creation of my character to be very challenging and time consuming as I had to redraw my character over and over again. This was because I wanted the limbs of the character to be lined up perfectly with one another; allowing for bending joints to look more professional with limbs looking like they are connected and not cut off entirely like a puppet would be. Although this took me a long time to overcome I feel that the puppet was a good choice for my animation. As I am not a very strong drawer and I was able to get very strong movements of a high quality within a short period of time.
